Title: The Rigo method as a specific physiotherapeutic approach in the conservative treatment of scoliosis
Author: Vasileva, Dance

Abstract: Scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional deformity that requires a multidisciplinary and individualized treatment approach. The aim of this specialist thesis is to elaborate on the effectiveness of the Rigo method as an integral part of modern conservative rehabilitation. Unlike traditional kinesitherapy exercises, the Rigo concept is based on a specific clinical classification and three-dimensional self-correction involving axial elongation, de-rotation, and targeted respiratory influence. The thesis analyzes the mechanism of action of this method through the biomechanical principles of correcting the “closed cycle” of progression. The results of contemporary international research, integrated into this study, indicate that the early application of these specific exercises significantly contributes to stabilizing the Cobb angle, improving the aesthetic appearance of the trunk, and increasing the vital lung capacity of patients. The conclusion of the thesis confirms the necessity of implementing this specific physiotherapeutic approach as a standard in the treatment protocols for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Keywords: scoliosis, Rigo method, kinesitherapy, self-correction, rehabilitation.
